What is Unlocking the Boot Loader?
Unlocking the Boot Loader allows you to put custom ROMs on your device. It also gives you the ability to full reset and wipe cache. After Unlocking the Boot Loader the easiest way to access it is to put CWM recovery or TWRP recovery on your XPERIA

Checking if it is possible to Unlock the Boot Loader
1. Smart Phone:
1. Dial: *#*#7378423#*#*
Tablet:
1. Open the contacts app
2. Click menu
3. Long press (about 5 seconds) above the status bar, when you release your finger a button named Enter service code will appear. This may take a few tries
4. Click the button
5. Dial: *#*#7378423#*#*
2. Click Service Info > Configuration > Rotting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says yes you can Unlock the Boot Loader

Tablet:
1. Open the contacts app

How to Unlock the Boot Loader
Before you start be aware that this may void your warranty!
1. Find your IMEI, MEID or IDID number. Open Settings > About phone/tablet > Status. Remember this number
2. Go to this page and enter your name, IMEI and email address, to receive your Boot Loader Unlock key
3. Download and install the latest Android SDK Click here
4. Download and unzip this file
5. Put the file in the usb_driver folder located at Android SDK > extras > google
6. Turn off your device
7. Push and hold the fast boot button as you connect your XPERIA to your computer
8. You will be asked for drivers, select the file that you placed in the usb_driver folder
9. Open a command window (CMD) in the Android SDK folder
10. Enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version, if you get a response back your device is connected properly
11. Enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY, where KEY is your Boot Loader Unlock key
Your boot loader is now unlocked
